Adult Drug Court
While incarceration removes individuals from their drug-abusing lifestyles for a period of time, addicts who don't receive treatment, education and life-skills training often return to the same cycle of drug use and criminal activity. Drug Court helps combat those problems through a supervised program that successfully combines a strong treatment component with the legal weight of law enforcement.
Juvenile Drug Court
Juvenile Drug Court is a court-supervised program for young people ages 13 to 17 who have current or past drug and/or alcohol charges. The program works to treat a participant’s current issues with substance abuse, to deter future problems with drugs and alcohol, and to enhance his or her potential for success in school. The program provides education, prevention, accountability and treatment referrals to participants and their families. Success depends on a strong collaboration among the drug court team, which includes a judge, school personnel, treatment providers, and representatives from law enforcement, juvenile justice (DJJ), community-based services (DCBS), and the public defender’s office.
Misdemeanor District Court
The Pretrial Diversion Program is designed to help defendants before they develop long-term, destructive behavior. The program is successful in giving offenders a second chance while recognizing their obligations to their victims, their communities and themselves.
